the intimate bathing meme; ![]() |
Grooming is an important part of many species' rituals. It keeps them clean, healthy, and content. And a good bath? It can change the whole tone of a day from terrible to relaxed and blissful. But nudity is sometimes viewed as a weakness - and it is almost always sexualized - so bathing is often kept a private matter. If you do share these moments with someone, they're almost always a significant other or a sexual partner. Like you're doing now. Whether it be after a battle or after sex (or before sex, even), the two of you are going to get clean. Be sure to help each other out with that, won't you? After all, there are places on the back that just can't be reached... HOW TO PLAY:

Secured from liability to harm, injury, danger, or risk; a safe place. Free from hurt, injury, danger, or risk.
This was not safe.
He stood over the bathtub full of steaming water with a towel wrapped around his waist. White, fluffy, soft - just how he told Tony he liked his towels.
A hand went out to hover over the water before going away from it. "No, this isn't safe. Sir," a good sign that he was anxious and fixated on the thing before him, "this isn't safe. It can't be."

"It's fine, I promise. It's water here, top side, no infection, see?"
Sam's already ditched his shoes and socks (because honestly, who builds white bathrooms?) but was only splashing one hand in a bit for now.

"It's different for you - you have always been a human, Si- Sam. I'm a program, I can't go in that. It's not safe!" There's some distress in his voice. Even watching the hand splashing and gliding through the water doesn't set him at ease because it's different. Sam is a User, Jarvis is a Program. One of those do not mix with water at all and it's obviously not the User.

Sam stands up and uses a hand towel as he gives JARVIS an even look.
"The human body is 70% water. Everything from bone to blood yo organs. You're right; you're definitely a Program. But right now yo're also in a human body. And that means that if I can touch it, chances are so can you."
Fight him on this an chances are you are getting shoved in like a very unhappy cat. Since JARVIS is taller than Sam, that would turn out interesting.
/goes for the push! XD
He looks again to the over-sized bathtub with that distressed look. What Sam is saying is logical, of course. There was enough water in this human form that he shouldn't be scared of it. But just thinking of 'risking' it made his heart beat a little faster, which in turn made the reactor pulse faster on his chest.
Fuck the push |D
Sam tried leaving JARVIS to get in on his own. He tried gentle coaxing. He even tried logic. Nothing, and judging from how he was pensively staring at the tub, it was going to get cold, followed by a chilly day in hell before JARVIS did this on his own.
Without a word Sam yanked the towel from around the other's waist, and stooped to honest-to-goodness pick him up in a fireman's carry. It's actually quite a feat when one is carrying a man who's taller than you are, buck naked, into an oversized tub. Also, Seth was absolutely right, there is nothing worse than hot wet denim.
Maybe this wasn't perfectly planned.
Well there were little raised areas Sam had assumed were seats, so there's probably a far amount of splashing and questioning if Sam had lost his grip on hi questionable sanity while shirt and uncomfortably hot denim jeans were quickly removed.
LOL
His staring was interrupted with a towel being snapped from his waist to find itself cast aside, and panic flared up. There was no time to react to it and it's apparent that nudity doesn't bother Sam as Jarvis finds himself manhandled up over the other's shoulder...
...and dunked.
Of course Sam goes down with him, but Jarvis found himself under water in a quick instant, blinking up through the surface of the water before there's Sam moving to stand up. Water invades his mouth, chokes off the air from his throat and Jarvis surges up to break the surface with a gasp and a serious coughing fit. "SIR! SIR!" he yelled, trying to figure out whether to stand there and cough or flee as the fight or flight instinct hit his brain like a train. Despite the heat of the water surrounding him, he was shaking, absolutely wrecked with fear because any moment now, the water inhaled would reach his interior systems and he'd electrify and die and that wasn't logic but fear can't be helped.

Of course full blown panic was not the objective, so Sam grabbed JARVIS by the wrists and yelled right back;
"JARVIS, I'VE NEVER HURT YOU AND I'M NOT STARTING. YOU ARE FINE. YOU ARE NOT GONNA SHORT OUT."
Considering Sam has not even so much as raised his voice in the entire time they've known each other this entire day is becoming an experience in firsts.
at long last I get to use this icon. AT LAST.
It's only when Sam yells right back that he figures out that he really isn't shorting out. That there's no electricity burning him from the inside and taking him out. Sam's right - he had absolutely no reason to hurt him and wouldn't start now. Even if he was acting like a coward in the face of water of all things. He recoils a little at the shouting, shutting up in the wake of it.
He can feel the water rolling down his skin, sliding harmless over the reactor image in his skin. He wasn't dying. "...I... I'm sorry," was whispered at last, because now Jarvis thinks he's really done something wrong and that Sam's mad at him. He wasn't created and programmed to make people upset at him - he was made to assist!
/o/! alas I have no such icons for Sam
"It's okay. I'm gonna sit down though, because it's kind of weird to stand up in a bathtub.
...If you can even really call this a bathtub."
This is the only one I have, but I am thankful I have it now XD
He just sits there, hands on knees in the water.
"...Are you upset with me, Sir?" A pause. "Sam. Sorry, Sam."
no subject
"No, I'm not mad. I was just trying to get through to you."
Tony has weird soap, but it works, and Sam is methodically getting cleaned up.
"...You know, usually? People use a bath for getting clean. Just a thought."
no subject
Jarvis watched in silence, those teal eyes trained on the suds the soap left in their wake. Bathing was a strange concept and yet...
There was no way for the former program to hide his eyes moving over Sam's body and the skin that water and soap moved downward on.
"The fear was immense and nothing seemed to work to get it to leave my mind. I apologize for acting so foolish. I thank you for intervening. I'll make sure to get you dirty clothes when we're finished."
After a moment, his eyes lit up with an idea. He reached and plucked the bar of soap from the other man's hands before mimicking his movements with it. Lather up, then he reached... And started lathering up Sam's shoulders. Arms. Hands.
All done very carefully with thought behind it.
no subject
"It's um...it's okay. You're used to being inside a machine."
This seemed a lot quieter than Sam had anticipated, though once JARVIS had an experience with some of that blind panic to draw from;
"...But not being able to think around that fear, even though what you're scared of is totally harmless. It's how I felt with that mask on."
no subject
If anything, Jarvis is very thorough.
"I suppose now I understand. When I was in the computer, I didn't understand how such a thing could put such fear into you. I'm sorry for pushing at it so much, Sam."
no subject
"Like I said; it' okay. You don't need to apologize so much, huh? I just wanted you to realize what panic felt like."
Usually it's JARVIS showing Sam the inner workings of the other world; always very confident and sure of what he is doing. Turnabout is fair play an this time it's Sam who's the confident one as he's getting rinsed off before trying to tackle shaving.
no subject
Its an interesting sensation.
"I'll strive not to so much then, Sam. I hope I never feel that way again." Of course he didn't realize at this point in time that humans almost dealt with it on a daily basis.
Teal eyes watch Sam rinse himself off. "Is that all there is to bathing in the water then?" He runs the sponge over his skin curiously, working his limbs to try and get every place that he could reach. The back was tough and there was a spot he kept missing despite how much in vain he tried to get. How did humans deal with this? Putting that spot aside for the moment, Jarvis instead focused on getting everything else - his rear, feet, legs, even scowling a little at that really unusual sensation when he scrubbed at the apex of his thighs.
no subject
"Pretty much. It's not really all that exciting, though I tend to be a 'showers' kind of guy."
Sam honestly couldn't remember the last time he did an actual bath by himself. And seeing as how you were created by Tony Stark, you've probably seen enough to write your own version of the Kama Sutra. In Binary.
"...You know usually when it's two people in a bath together, there's a lot more than just getting clean going on."
And since Sam doesn't want to push too much, He'just going with lingering fingers on spine, upper arm. shoulder.

Jarvis does as asked and moves to allow Sam access to his back. It was strange to feel the texture of the sponge with just the skin of his back. The sensation of it moving across his skin and scrubbing the dead cells away with the dirt.
Sam gets his attention and he turns his head, giving the user a look like he didn't understand for a moment. The touches were warm against his skin, similar almost to the same touches from the ordeal in the map room.
"...Something like the map room?"
no subject
It was not a good feeling.
"...Yeah. Only this time we both know what happens next."
With the sponge, with cleaning up, or this sort of emotional gray area. It's one of those questions where you needed to fill in your own answer.
no subject
He lets them both sit in silence for a moment, letting the sound of sponge moving over skin fill the otherwise quiet room. He tried to think of what humans usually did for the particular situation that's moving through his mind. What was it called?
"...Si-- Sam. Would you like to go on a date with me sometime?" He turns his head to look at the other questioningly. Not questioningly because he was afraid of rejection, but more because he wasn't sure if that was the correct term.
no subject
Not that JARVIS would already know these things ( though it was mild;y interesting that the "new form" hadn't already been tried out ) but that he asked Sam out socially. Sam showing J something besides Malibu was already on the agenda. but nobody actually asked Sam to go out. It's always the other way around. Usually because no one likes him enough to bother...right?
"Uh...sure."
no subject
"What should I do for you for one?" Jarvis turns so that he can look better at Sam and still allow for his skin to be washed if the other so desired. It's a question he's really sincere about because Tony's relationships...well, there weren't really stable, or normal. So it's not like the former program exactly has a good example to use.
Yes I got this from a movie. Yes it's a dumb name.
But since Sam didn't find out that JARVIS had more than a friendly interest until recently, using Sam's former relationships (and using that word is a big stretch for almost all of them) could be an even worse example, because Sam himself is young and hasn't a clue about this dating business.
"...You know, I have no idea. Usually I'm the one doing the asking so...that little Cuban place I guess? The one with the red candles on the tables. I'm pretty sure its called Cha-cha-cha."
That was safe right? Nothing to do with the internet, the Grid, Iron Man or computers.
:3
Except maybe getting in a bathtub, but that's neither here nor there at the moment.
"That sounds perfect, Sam. Is this the part where I ask you when you would like for me to escort you to the restaurant then?" The 'pick up' part wasn't needed since Sam had essentially been staying in the Starks since J's arrival into the User world. "It is the little restaurant close to the waterfront, yes?"
